Taken from Kevin's Blog at http://aggiewolf.myblogsite.com/:
The denotations of chivalry, according to Merriam-Webster Online (great bookmark, that site), mostly reference things that ARE obsolete in the modern world. Last I checked, knighthood truly was dead, and with it, the core definition of chivalry. Hell, one of the definitions of chivalry is "archaic." Saying chivalry is outdated is actually REDUNDANT. Stop using the "chivalry is obsolete" argument, you fucking feminazis. It's a redundant statement; just like the statement "Feminazis are funny crazy."
Kevin, you're an english major, right? We'll let me throw out an FYI.
Here is the definition you're referencing in this diatribe:
Main Entry: chivᄋalᄋry
Pronunciation:'shi-v&l-rE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -ries
Etymology: Middle English chivalrie, from Middle French chevalerie, from chevalier knight -- more at CHEVALIER
1 : mounted men-at-arms
2 archaic a : martial valor b : knightly skill
3 : gallant or distinguished gentlemen
4 : the system, spirit, or customs of medieval knighthood
5 : the qualities of the ideal knight : chivalrous conduct
Notice how archaic is italicised? That means the definition(s) that follow it are archaic. Not that the word you've looked up means archaic.
